Who did we design the Caregiver Packs for?
Family Caregivers doing their best at home On the waitlist for services & struggling Friendly Volunteers Tuckered Out Concerned about lack of Activities Juggling generations
We tip our hats to all caregivers. We admire your commitment to do your very best. You are superheroes.
In Canada, caregivers provide more hours of care than professional care providers! Caregivers play many roles including spouse, companion, personal care provider, entertainer, coach, cook, medication giver, housekeeper, dressing changer …. The list is almost endless. You may be managing your own health issues. You may be stuck at home because of weather, transportation challenges, long waitlists or physical distancing guidelines. Caregiver fatigue, stress and burnout are serious.
We’d like to offer a glimmer of hope! We designed this series of Live it Up! kits with caregiver and volunteer superheroes in mind. Every kit includes a self-care strategy designed to help you stay strong physically, mentally and emotionally – plus – an activity for you to do with the person you care for. You can do one a day or combine them to create your own mini-day program.
We’ll offer some suggestions to help manage your time and energy. Sometimes when we’re in the thick of it we can’t see new ways of doing things. It’s all about taking good care of you so you can take care of others.
We know that Seniors Day Programs and Respite Care can be expensive ($40 a day or higher). We’ve priced our Packs as reasonably as possible and we know this may not be enough. Every month we’ll give away 5 free Caregiver Packs to those with limited incomes and for whom purchasing a pack would be a stretch. Contact us and let us know you’d like to apply. You don’t have to share your story or any details with us. Just say add me to the free Caregiver Pack list.
Caregivers may also like to check out some of our other Packs or Kits:
Better Visits – If your family member or friend moves to a retirement or long-term care home or is in hospital, your responsibilities do not end. You may be concerned about the hours spent doing meaningful activities, the time alone, lack of stimulation and the challenge of making new friends. Perk up visits with these theme-based kits.
Grief & Loss – Changes in health, series illnesses, moving to a new home, taking on new roles, as well as the death of family or friends can bring on feelings of loss. Try out our accessible activities to help you with the mix of emotions that these situations stir up.
Bulk orders and special rates are available for organizations who support Caregivers and seniors living at home.
